Stage7: Lago Maggiore – Vigevano

Good times

The day started great with some coffee provided by our super nice campground neighbors. Again we had just perfect weather blue sky and a nice 25 degrees.

And it only got better. After leaving the lake behind us we followed the Ticino river and once again the Italian’s have created a super nice bike path along the river. Well paved basically always flat and just gorgeous scenery.

So and what do you do in such good mood as a cyclist. You push hard. Well at least we pushed hard. Motivated by other cyclists we just let go and raced along the river.

After 2 hours unfortunately the bike path was over and we had to go back to the normal roads and at least I was quite exhausted.

Since we diverted from our initial route this was one of the few times we were not a 100% sure where to stay for he night, we had either Pavia or Vigevano as destination. I wanted to reach Pavia but had to realize that this would get us way above 90kms despite (or because of) our racing in the beginning this just seemed too far for us and we decided for 25km less to go to Vigevano.

We had no expectation on the city at all, and also finding a hotel was not that easy. It was Friday and it was already long past noon when we started to look for options so we had to go with a more expensive option. Which was just the best thing that could happen to us.

Because it was an appartment and not an actual hotel with a kitchen, living room and bed room and it was directly on the main square. This was then the blueprint for many other places when our stage ended in a city. Appartments have much more space than a hotel room which allowed Anouk to roam a bit, which is otherwise hard for a toddler in a city. We could make our own food, which makes things just much more easier for us – going to a restaurant with Anouk simply sucks! And when Anouk got tired we could put her to bed and enjoy some time for us in the living room. And another huge plus to a hotel there was washing machines for our laundry so no more hand washing!

Ah and of course one of many completly priceless stares from the owner when they realized how we are traveling

Since we were rigth in the center of the town we went out to it and discovered that there was quite a bit to see. Leonardo Da Vinci worked quite for some time in this area and lived there.

Enjoying the view from our living room
