Mountains again

Since we went further than planned the day before this was a really short stage allowing us a bit to recover form the 2 long runs we did the days before.

The route took us again into the mountains and also our destination for the day was there. I was quite I excited about this one, since the pictures I saw during planning looked really great and also our accommodation was no normal hotel, but rather some bungalow/homestay thing which I found on google maps which had only a partially translated homepage. I did the reservation via Facebook messaging and could not do the prepayment to confirm since I do not have a Thai bank account 😀

The ride was again under best imaginable weather conditions. 20+ degres bright sunshine and a cooling breeze. In addition the landscape became nicer and nicer with every kilometer we did.

We made rest at a highway reststop were chilled for quite some time until we finally made our way up. Again it was tough, steep ramps above 10% inclination, but maybe our condition has improved by now I think it went better than on day 3 however it was also far less climbing this time.

On top we were rewarded with a really astonishing view. The place is really interessting as it seems to be a common location for Thai people to go on vacation there. It has a lot of places to rent including many camp grounds. since it was Saturday also quite a lot of people were there, but I think we were the only foreigners and with Anouk we soon became an attraction too.

The accommodation turned out better than we had dreamed of. Fairly new wood houses with one room + bathroom, a nice terrace to sit on, with an astonishing view over the valley. To add it was full moon and it rose directly from the center of the valley. The owner took good care of us and made dinner for us. Definitely a day to remember
